Time to vote for changes to IGALA bylaws!
Dear IGALA members,
At the Executive Board meeting in 2021, we discussed altering the wording of the IGALA bylaws. The amendments proposed are (a) to update the terminology “webweaver”; and (b) to alter pronoun usage.
Please see the suggested changes to the bylaws by CLICKING THIS LINK (possible changes are marked in red).
Please find the rationale for the amendments below:
a) Update the terminology “webweaver”
The communication officer's title in the association’s bylaws is currently referred to as the “webweaver.” To better reflect contemporary social media and communications, replace “webweaver” with “communication officer.”
b) Alter pronoun usage
The bylaws currently use the pronouns "she/he" and/or "her/his." To facilitate inclusivity, replace all instances of IGALA bylaws "she/he" and/or "her/his" with "they", "their."
The IGALA bylaws require that any changes of the bylaws are approved by members.
